Background
Carl Freeman, aka "The Piano Doctor," grew up in Missouri
and spent many years as head piano technician for Schmidt
Music, the largest piano dealer in the Midwest. Having 22 stores
spread throughout Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa,
Missouri and North Dakota, Mr. Freeman served as Schmidt's
troubleshooter for problems the other technicians couldn't solve.
Trained in Kansas City by a tuner who literally grew up in a piano
factory from age 4, Mr. Freeman continued his training until he
became a master tuner, and then began teaching others.
While at Schmidt Music, Mr. Freeman received specialized
training in the factories of Steinway & Sons, Baldwin, Yamaha,
and others.
In addition, throughout the years Mr. Freeman has been called
upon to tune for regional artists such as Tom Grant and Marian
McPartland, to international stars such as Frank Sinatra, Dionne
Warwick, George Winston, Kris Kristofferson.
When asked about his long career in the piano industry, Mr.
Freeman simply states that it's been "rich and rewarding."
